My tank is cloudy with high nitrates?

I think your trigger fish be part, but not all of the problems. He is probably releasing old nitrates that normally accumulate in Kostich's Model of Old Tank Syndrome. If it is digging up old organic debris that would not usually be circulating much, particularly nitrites, and your system cycles well, we get nitrates stimulating the growth of organisms that cause cloudy water (either/or bacteria and algae). Small frequent water changes often but not always eliminate the problem. Your best bet is to add nitrogen fixing organisms, hence Algone. Usually helps or eliminates the problem.
