Do I really need reverse osmosis water for my saltwater setup?

Im starting a new tank and theres no stores around me that sells RO water. I was on a sw fish forum and everyone got me all scared to use regular water. I have well water, so theres no chlorine to kill off bacteria... So will regulat water work? Im just wondering if like EVERYONE in the sw hobby uses RO water
